Scotland

Sean Maitland and Duncan Taylor have been named in Scotland’s Rugby World Cup squad.

The duo have over 60 caps between them and head to Japan where they will come up against the hosts, Ireland, Russia and Samoa.

New Zealand-born Maitland qualifies for Scotland due to his Glaswegian grandparents who emigrated to New Zealand in the 1960s.

Scotland face Ireland, Japan, Russia and Samoa in Pool A.

The winger earned his first international run out against England in 2013, crossing for his first try, and featured at the 2015 tournament where he made three starts, scoring one try.

It is a year to the day since ‘Super Dunc’ injured his knee in a Premiership Rugby Shield match for Saracens Storm, ruling him out of the entire 2018/19 campaign.

Due to his determination and the help of the medical team at Saracens, Taylor has returned stronger and made his first international appearance for two years last month.

The centre also made his Scotland debut in 2013 and will be heading to his first World Cup.
