ATP Marseille Day 2 Predictions Including Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Gilles Simon

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Paris Masters

The ATP Marseille Open 2022 moves into Day 2 of main draw action. Seven exciting matches to enthrall the audiences of Marseille with several Frenchmen in action too. We preview and predict all seven matches for you, including Hugo Gaston vs Corentin Moutet.

ATP Marseille Day 2 Predictions

Damir Dzumhur vs Tomas Machac

Head to head – First Meeting

Both players have done well to come through qualifying. Damir Dzumhur has been around the tour for some time now but is generally over powered from the baseline and especially on faster courts. Tomas Machac is only 21 years old and he’s already won a Grand Slam match this year. Expect Machac to attack and get the win.
Prediction: Machac in 3

Zizou Bergs vs Holger Rune

Head to head – First Meeting

Holger Rune is an exciting new talent on tour but his 2022 season has started off on a tough note. The 18 year old is 0-4 this year but the courts in Marseille provides him a great opportunity to get his first win of 2022. Zizou Bergs is playing as a lucky loser and if he didn’t make it through qualifying, there’s little chance he’s going to get past the first round here.
Prediction: Rune in 2

Radu Albot vs Dennis Novak

Head to head – First Meeting

Dennis Novak hasn’t quite got going in 2022 the way he would’ve liked to do so. The Austrian is a solid player and it looks like he’s not feeling very confident so far. He takes on Radu Albot, who reached the third round in Melbourne and is looking in decent touch to get past Novak. Expect the Moldovan to be more confident in his game and move on.
Prediction: Albot in 2

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga vs Gilles Simon

Head to head – Tsonga 9-4 Simon

Quite a rivalry these two have had over the years. Both Frenchmen are playing as wildcards with the draw gods seeing it fit to let them battle in the first round itself. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is definitely past his peak and so his Gilles Simon but neither have lost their fighting spirit. Both reached the Round of 16 in Montpellier and while Simon is certainly more consistent, I fear his game style is not well suited for his age. Expect Tsonga to be more aggressive and being more adept at doing so to get the win.
Prediction: Tsonga in 3
