ATP Madrid Day 4 Predictions

Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Frances Tiafoe

Etcheverry is better on clay, but Tiafoe is just better overall. The American hasn’t fallen off far since his tremendous semifinal run to the US Open semifinals last year, though he hasn’t nabbed a big title. I doubt Madrid will be it, but he should go pretty far.
Prediction: Tiafoe in 2

Sebastian Baez vs Marcos Giron

Giron puts together solid runs at big events once in a while, and his overall ranking and quality are slowly improving, but he’s certainly not the talent that Baez is. He might be more consistent, but it’s hard to trust either of these men. Esepcially on clay, though, I’ll trust Baez’s talent.
Prediction: Baez in 3

Francisco Cerundolo vs Pedro Cachin

Cachin had a dream run at last year’s US Open, and he’s actually been better this year since then. However, he’s still hit or miss, and he doesn’t have the upside that Cerundolo does. The younger Argentine has huge potential, and he’s finally starting to meet it.
Prediction: Cerundolo in 2

Cameron Norrie vs Yosuke Watanuki

Norrie started to really improve on clay a few years ago. And while he probably won’t ever be a contender at the French Open, he should be more than enough to put away Watanuki in this one.
Prediction: Norrie in 2
