With only one week until Wimbledon, this WTA event in Bad Homburg is one of the last opportunities for players to gain some invaluable match time on the surface. It’ll be interesting to see if Alycia Parks can start to gain some momentum using a serve that’s tailor-made for this surface or whether Linda Noskova’s power will be too much to handle on these pacy courts. We’ve predicted these players’ matches and more on the second day of action in Germany. We’ve also published articles predicting the outcomes of the other six matches taking place on the same day.
WTA Bad Homburg Day 2 Predictions
Linda Noskova vs Kateryna Baindl
Head-to-head: First meeting
Kateryna Baindl’s a long way from her best tennis. There was a spell back in 2019 where she was pulling off some decent upsets but she’s now struggling to maintain her top 100 ranking. Though she’s winning matches, the most telling stat is probably that she’s on a 17-match losing streak to top 50 players. Linda Noskova may have only played one match on grass but she’s got the power to continue Baindl’s losing streak.
Prediction: Noskova in 2.

Jaqueline Cristian vs Varvara Gracheva
Head-to-head: Gracheva 1-0 Cristian
Jaqueline Cristian hits a great ball so it’s somewhat surprising to see her ranked as low as #131 in the world. It’s also surprising to find out she’s lost 13 of her last 15 matches. The Romanian plays with confidence when she’s on but she seems to be a bit of a momentum player.
At her best, Cristian should be able to beat Varvara Gracheva. The Russian will make Cristian play, however, which should be enough for the unforced errors to start spraying from Cristian’s racket.
Prediction: Gracheva in 2.

Jil Teichmann vs Claire Liu
Head-to-head: First meeting
Jil Teichmann should be a top 50 player but she’s currently ranked #126 in the world. Her losses have been close but the Swiss will likely only care about the final result, having lost 10 of her last 12 matches. She’s still playing great tennis and will make that jump back into the top 50 sooner rather than later.
We think she’ll scrape back a win in Bad Homburg against Claire Liu. Teichmann’s game has historically been pretty weak on grass but she still packs a punch on the court and Liu is a player that can be overpowered. Though the match will probably be close, Teichmann’s road back to the top 50 starts here.
Prediction: Teichmann in 3.

Alycia Parks vs Leylah Fernandez
Head-to-head: First meeting
You’d think Alycia Parks’ game would be perfect for grass. In a way, it is. Her huge first serve capable of winning her free points. She’s just not a polished enough player at this point in her career to make consistent big scalps. She lands her first serve way too infrequently and she can look panicked when she has to hit a second serve.
Leylah Fernandez may not be the best-suited player to grass. She’ll likely serve well enough to keep a below-average returner at bay, however, and her steely rally temperament will leave Parks frustrated when her serves are put back into play.
Prediction: Fernandez in 2.
