ATP Gstaad Day 1 Predictions Including Laslo Djere vs Zizou Bergs

Laslo Djere French Open

This Gstaad tournament marks the return of clay to the ATP tour after an epic fortnight on the Wimbledon grass that saw Carlos Alcaraz crowned champion. The field in Gstaad isn’t particularly stacked in terms of top ranked players, with #23 Bautista Agut being the first seed, but it’s full of players who are very comfortable playing on clay and are eager to get some very important points for their ranking or even take advantage of a rare opportunity to get an ATP level title. Day 1 should bring plenty of excitement and tight matches. We also predict the rest of the day’s matches in a separate article.

ATP Gstaad Day 1 Predictions

Benjamin Bonzi vs Daniel Altmaier

Head-to-head: Bonzi 2-0 Altmaier

Bonzi won both of their previous meetings, but they occured on grass. On clay it should be a very different story, with Altmaier being very comfortable on the surface as shown by his epic win against Sinner at Roland Garros this year. On this surface, he should have a clear edge over Bonzi and advance to the second round here.
Prediction: Altmaier in 2

Jaume Munar vs Alexander Ritschard

Head-to-head: Munar 1-0 Ritschard

Their previous meeting came precisely at this tournament last year, with Munar prevailing with relative ease 6-3 6-3 before eventually losing to Casper Ruud. This time around the outcome shouldn’t be much different, on clay Munar has a very clear edge in this matchup and should win comfortably.
Prediction: Munar in 2

Laslo Djere vs Zizou Bergs

Head-to-head: Djere 2-0 Bergz

Djere will be very motivated after an improbably good Wimbledon run that saw him win two matches before falling to world #5 Stefanos Tsitsipas. Now back on his best surface, where he conquered both of his career titles, he will hope to maintain that high level of play and make a deep run here this week. He should be able to make it past this first round without much trouble.
Prediction: Djere in 2
