Three ATP Players Withdraw From Indian Wells Masters
Which Players Have Withdrawn?
Laslo Djere is the first player to withdraw from the Indian Wells Masters. His last match was two weeks ago in the second-round of the Rio Open against Dusan Lajovic. It is not currently known what has caused the Serbian to miss the opening Masters 1000 event of the year.
Aslan Karatsev is the second player to withdraw from the Indian Wells Masters. The Russian suffered a knee injury at the start of the season in Brisbane. This required surgery, and he has been absent ever since. It seems likely that Karatsev could be sidelined for a lengthy period of time after needing to have a surgery.
Mackenzie McDonald is the final player to withdraw from the tournament in California. The American has not played any matches since a five-set loss to Juncheng Shang at the Australian Open. No official reason has been provided for this by McDonald or any member of his team.
Who Replaces Those Three Players In The Draw?
Bernabe Zapata Miralles replaces Djere at the Indian Wells Masters. The Spaniard has spent the last month playing on the clay courts in South America, although he did not have very much success. He will hope that a switch to the Californian hard courts will bring greater success.
Thanasi Kokkinakis benefits from Karatsev’s decision to withdraw from the Indian Wells Masters. The Australian is hugely talented and has a powerful and dangerous game when it is firing. He could cause top players in the draw trouble at his very best.
Finally, Daniel Elahi Galan is set to compete at the Indian Wells Masters after McDonald’s withdrawal. The Colombian has also been playing on the South American clay in recent weeks, but he only managed one main-draw victory during that period. Galan will hope to recapture the hard court form that saw him beat last year’s Australian Open runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas at the 2022 US Open.
