Laver Cup Day 3 Predictions Including Carlos Alcaraz vs Taylor Fritz

Carlos Alcaraz ahead of ATP Madrid Final

After two days at the 2024 Laver Cup, Team World leads Team Europe 8-4. On Day 3, the finale of the event, every match is worth three points. Team World is looking to defend its 2023 crown and will need to win two matches on Sunday to do so. If Team Europe wants to reclaim the crown, they will need three wins. We have four blockbuster matches on deck. But who do you think will win the 2024 Laver Cup?

Laver Cup Day 3 Predictions

Daniil Medvedev vs Ben Shelton

Head-to-Head: first meeting

This is a massive tilt to kick off Day 3 singles action at the Laver Cup. Daniil Medvedev and Ben Shelton are both looking to bounce back after singles defeats on Day 2. This will be the first meeting between the two, and I like Medvedev to give Team Europe an early boost. He should be able to frustrate Shelton with his propensity to play as a backboard eight feet behind the baseline.

Prediction: Medvedev in 3

Alexander Zverev vs Frances Tiafoe

Head-to-Head: Zverev 7-1 Tiafoe

World No. 2 Alexander Zverev has absolutely dominated this head-to-head. The German has won the last five against Frances Tiafoe, dropping only three combined sets in those matches. However, Tiafoe picked up a massive win over Medvedev on Day 2 and seemingly always raises his level in front of big crowds. I’ll take the American to buck the history and win a third-set breaker.

Prediction: Tiafoe in 3

Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud vs Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe

This should be a fun doubles match with some of the biggest showmen in the sport taking the court. Alcaraz and Ruud have lost separate doubles matches this week, but what will happen when you put them together? They are the clear underdogs here against a pair of big-serving Americans. Look for the power of Team World to be the difference in this battle.

Prediction: Shelton and Tiafoe in 2

Carlos Alcaraz vs Taylor Fritz

Head-to-Head: Alcaraz 1-0

Carlos Alcaraz has fully embraced his first Laver Cup experience. The current world No. 3 has been engaged as a teammate and picked up a much-needed win for Team Europe on Day 2. Taylor Fritz also secured a terrific win on Day 2, picking up right where he left off after finishing runner-up at the 2024 US Open. Alcaraz dominated their only head-to-head matchup, but the indoor hardcourt venue should give the American some confidence. Give me Alcaraz in a tight one, knowing how important this match is for Team Europe.

Prediction: Alcaraz in 3
