ATP 500 Vienna 1/16-Finals
Tiafoe – Norrie: 22.10.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 1-3
Frances Tiafoe has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Almaty, Tiafoe lost his quarterfinal match against Vukic in straight sets. Frances is looking for a solid result this week, to cement his top 20 status. So far this season, Tiafoe has had his biggest results on the fast hard courts such as this one. Last year in Vienna, Tiafoe reached the quarterfinals, losing against Sinner in straight sets.
Cameron Norrie has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Stockholm, Cameron lost his opening match against Kecmanovic in straight sets as we predicted. This has been the worst season for the Brit, who dropped outside the top 50 in the rankings. So far this season, Norrie has not had any remarkable results. Last year in Vienna, Norrie lost in the 1/8-Finals against Zverev in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Tiafoe is the slight favorite in this matchup. Both players are out of form right now. However, Frances had a better season overall, so we believe that he will have Franco upper hand in this matchup. In their last competitive head-to-head meeting, Tiafoe defeated Norrie in straight sets on the hard court.
That being said, Tiafoe winning is a value bet.

Thiem – Darderi: 22.10.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Dominic Thiem has lost five straight matches. The last match he played was at the US Open, where he lost his opening match against Shelton in straight sets. Dominic had too many injury problems, which is the main reason why he can not find his rhythm. This will be his last competitive tournament. Dominic will retire on home soil in Vienna. Thiem won the title here in 2019. Last year in Vienna, Thiem lost his opening match against Tsitsipas in straight sets.
Luciano Darderi has lost seven straight matches. His last win was over two months ago in Cincinnati, where he defeated Tabilo in straight sets. Darderi had his biggest results on the clay courts this season, which brought him into the top 50 in the rankings. So far this season, Darderi has played only eleven matches on the hard courts, and has a losing 1-10 record.
Last year around this time, Darderi spent his time playing at the challenger tour level, on the clay courts.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Dominic is the slight underdog in this matchup. We believe that he has prepared well for this tournament, and that he will have a decent chance against Darderi tomorrow. Thiem will have the crowd on his side, so we believe that they will lead him to victory. Darderi had no remarkable results this season on the faster courts such as this one, so we expect him to underperform tomorrow yet again.
That being said, Thiem winning is a value bet.
