ATP 500 Vienna 1/8-Finals
Dimitrov – Machac: 24.10.2024 15:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Grigor Dimitrov has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Stockholm, Grigor reached the final, where he fell short against Tommy Paul in straight sets. The Bulgarian is fighting for a spot in the ATP Tour finals. Here in Vienna, Grigor won his opening match against Zhang in straight sets as we predicted. So far this season, Dimitrov has won one title, which was at the beginning of the season, when he defeated Rune in the final of the ATP Brisbane. He has been consistent throughout the whole season, which brought him back to the top 10 in the rankings.
Tomas Machac has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Almaty, Machac retired mid-match in the 1/8-Finals against Zhukayev. Here in Vienna, Tomas looked fully fit on the court. He won his opening match against Marozsan in straight sets. Machac served well, not offering any breakpoints. After winning the first set 7-6, Tomas stepped up his level, and demolished Marozsan in the second set. Last year in Vienna, Machac reached the second round as a qualifier, when he fell short against Tsitsipas.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Dimitrov is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we can not agree with that. Machac is having his best season, so we expect him to be fully confident coming into this matchup. We expect a tight match that could go either way.
That being said, Machac covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Khachanov – Nakashima: 24.10.2024 19:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Karen Khachanov has won five straight matches. Last week in Almaty, Khachanov won the title, winning against Diallo in the final as we predicted. This was the second title of the season for the Russian. His first title this season was earlier this year, in Doha. Here in Vienna, Khachanov won his opening match in straight sets easily against Seyboth Wild. Khachanov has been struggling with his form for the last couple of months. With his recent poor performances, Khachanov is no longer a top 20 player. Last year in Vienna, Khachanov reached the quarterfinals, when he lost against Medvedev in three tight sets.
Brandon Nakashima has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Stockholm, Nakashima lost his opening match against Wawrinka in straight sets. Here in Vienna, Brandon upset Tommy Paul in his opening match in straight sets. Brandon offered and saved only one breakpoint.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Khachanov is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. Khachanov is always delivering his best tennis on the indoor courts. On the other hand, Nakashima never had any success on the indoor hard courts. We believe that Khachanov will dominate in this match from the very start.
That being said, Khachanov winning is a value bet.
