ATP Masters 1000 Paris 1/8-Finals
Khachanov – Popyrin: 31.10.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 3-1
Karen Khachanov has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Vienna, Khachanov reached the final, where he lost against Draper in straight sets as we predicted. Here in Paris, Karen won his opening round against O´Connell in three tight sets. After that, in the second round, Khachanov lost the first set against Mpetshi Perricard. However, the Russian stepped up his level, and turned the match around. Last year in Paris, Khachanov reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Tsitsipas in straight sets.
Alexei Popyrin has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Vienna, Alexei lost his opening match against Mensik in straight sets as we predicted. Here in Paris, Alexei won his opening match against Berrettini in straight sets. After that, in the second round, Popyrin upset Medvedev in three tight sets. This has been the best season for the Australians. However, he is still inconsistent, and hard to predict. He won the biggest title of his career in Montreal earlier this season, which brought him closer to the top 20 in the rankings. Last year in Paris, Alexei lost his opening match against Jarry in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Khachanov is the slight favorite in this matchup. Karen spent a lot of time on the court here in Paris, and last week in Vienna as well. We believe that he will be exhausted coming into this match. On the other hand, Popyrin loves to play under these fast conditions, so we expect him to keep this match tight.
That being said, Popyrin winning is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Alexei Popyrin winning @2.20 @bet365
Thompson – Mannarino: 31.10.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 3-5
Jordan Thompson has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Shanghai, Jordan lost his opening match against Griekspoor in straight sets. Here in Paris, Jordan had a favorable first-round draw. Thompson won his opening match against Pablo Martinez in straight sets. After that, in the second round, Jordan defeated Ruud in three tight sets as we predicted. The Australian is having one of his best seasons. Last year in Paris, Jordan lost his opening match against Nishioka in three tight sets.
Adrian Mannarino has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Basel, Mannarino lost his opening match against Wawrinka in three tight sets. Here in Paris, Adrian upset Tommy Paul in the opening round. After that, in the second round, Mannarino won against Bergs in three tight sets. Last season, Adrian had his biggest results. However, he underperformed on every surface this season. Last year in Paris, Adrian lost his opening match against Van de Zandschulp in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Mannarino is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. Thompson is having his best season, so we expect him to dominate against Mannarino, who has been struggling with his form all-season long.
That being said, Thompson winning is a value bet.
