ATP 250 Metz 1/16-Finals
Diaz Acosta – Sonego: 04.11.2024 12:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Facundo Diaz Acosta has lost five straight matches. His last win was at the US Open, where he lost in the second round of the tournament against Draper in straight sets. Last week in Paris, Facundo failed to qualify for the main-draw tournament. He lost his opening match against Davidovich Fokina in straight sets. Since the clay court events ended, Facundo has not had any remarkable results. So far this season, Diaz Acosta has played three matches on the indoor courts, and lost all three of them.
Lorenzo Sonego has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Sonego successfully qualified for the main-draw tournament. However, he was stopped by Jarry in the opening main-draw match in straight sets. So far this season, Sonego has participated in three indoor tournaments, and lost in the first round of two of them. The Italians have already won the title here in 2022. Last year in Metz, Sonego reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Fognini in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Sonego is the big favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. Facundo never had any success on the hard courts. On the other hand, Sonego has already won the title here in Metz, and usually performs well on the indoor courts such as this one.
That being said, Sonego covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Lorenzo Sonego -3.5 games handicap @1.80 @bet365
Shevchenko – Struff: 04.11.2024 13:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1
Alexander Shevchenko has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Shevchenko failed to qualify for the main-draw tournament. He lost in his opening qualifying round against Bu in straight sets. Shevchenko is looking for a solid result this week in Metz to get closer to the top 60 in the rankings. Last year in Metz, Alexander reached the final, where he was stopped by Humbert in straight sets.
Jan-Lennard Struff has lost four of his last five matches. Last week in Paris, Struff reached the second round, where he lost against Arthur Fils in straight sets. Before that tournament, Jan-Lennard was struggling with his form, and was on a 4-match losing streak. So far this season, Struff has had his biggest results on the clay courts. He won his maiden ATP title this season in Munich. During his last two appearances in Metz, Struff lost both times in the first round.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, the German is the slight favorite in this matchup. Struff is currently out of form, and is struggling to get consecutive wins on the hard courts such as this one. On the other hand, Shevchenko was the runner-up last year, and is looking to defend the points. We believe that Alexander will keep this match tight.
That being said, Shevchenko covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Alexander Shevchenko +2.5 games handicap @2.00 @bet365
