ATP Acapulco Final Prediction

Nick Kyrgios vs Alexander Zverev

The talented Australian has been a completely different player this week as opposed to the one we have watched for the past year. For the first time since January 2018, Kyrgios will appear in a tour final. As a result of his relatively poor form recently, the Australian has dropped to #72 in the rankings, however, his heroic exploits here have boosted him back up. If he is to defeat Zverev in the final then Kyrgios will return to the top 30. Kyrgios’ last three victories in Acapulco have been utterly astonishing, defeating Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka and John Isner. The Australian will carry immense confidence going into the showpiece final.

Zverev seems to be putting one of those special weeks together… again. The German is yet to drop a set in this year’s tournament, and he has not had an easy route by any means. David Ferrer and Alex de Minaur were just two of his four victims this week. It is the 21-year-old’s first event since a fourth round showing at the Australian Open, but he looks back to the form that saw him win the 2018 ATP Finals. In his last six tournaments, the German boasts a healthy 19-5 record so he should be brimming with confidence right now. Zverev also has an impressive record in finals (10-5), winning six of his last eight. The world #3 will be very hard to stop.

Whenever these two play it is always an entertaining spectacle. The contrast of styles make their matches very easy on the eye. The pair are tied at 3-3 in their head-to-head, with all six of their matches taking place on hard courts. Zverev has won their last two, but expect Kyrgios to be fired up to take the lead once again in their rivalry.

Prediction: Kyrgios in 3
