We’re down to the final four in the WTA Melbourne Summer Set 2 tournament in Australia. Here is your look at Anisimova vs Kasatkina and Li vs Sasnovich, we also have semifinal predictions for the other Melbourne Summer Set tournament including Naomi Osaka’s match.
Amanda Anisimova vs Daria Kasatkina
Anisimova beat Kasatkina in 2020, she’s started the year strong with wins over Alison Van Uytvanck, Sorana Cirstea and Irina Camelia-Begu, coming back from a set down to defeat Begu for this semifinal spot. Anisimova hasn’t reached a final since 2019, so winning this match would be huge for her career. Kasatkina blew past Anna Kalinskaya, needed three sets against Madison Keys as an underdog, and then eased past Nuria Parrizas Diaz to reach the semis. After 38 wins last season, Kasatkina is looking to make a final in her first tournament of 2022 after reaching four finals in 2021 (2-2 in those finals). Kasatkina looks to be playing slightly better and should be favored. Kasatkina in 2
Ann Li vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich
Li has yet to drop a set (d. Sherif, Sevastova, and Rakhimova in straights), she finished 2021 on a tear winning a maiden WTA title Tenerife and reaching the quarters in Courmayeur. After a breakthrough 2021 Li looks ready to make a big move into the top 30, standing in her way is the qualifier Sasnovich, a former top 30 player who has yet to drop a set in five match wins. Sasnovich is playing well and showing signs her best tennis is returning, but Li’s form gives her the upper hand. Li in 2
