WTA Guadalajara Day 3 Predictions Including Paula Badosa vs Victoria Azarenka

Victoria Azarenka in action at the WTA Berlin Open.

Day 3 at the WTA event in Guadalajara will be packed full of exciting action, with several current Top 10 players and former Grand Slam winners in action. It’s a very stacked draw for a tournament of this category and it is sure to provide plenty of top quality tennis until the end of the week.

WTA Guadalajara Day 3 Predictions

Eugenie Bouchard vs Jelena Ostapenko

Head-to-head: first meeting

Both players are former Grand Slam finalists (and Ostapenko a former champion at Roland Garros), but they are very far from their best day. Ostapenko is still significantly closer though, having even recently reached a WTA level final in Seoul. She should be considered a very solid favorite going into this match, although Bouchard definitely has the ability to cause an upset here.
Prediction: Ostapenko in 3

Elisabetta Cocciaretto vs Coco Gauff

Head-to-head: first meeting

Cocciaretto actually won when the pair faced each other at the Australian Open Girls’ Singles back in 2018, but Gauff pro transition has been far, far more successful. She has reached a Slam final this season and only her inability to challenge Iga Swiatek has prevented her from having an absolutely amazing season full of big titles. Gauff should have little trouble prevailing here.
Prediction: Gauff in 2

Veronika Kudermetova vs Donna Vekic

Head-to-head: Kudermetova 2-2 Vekic

Vekic had an incredible week in San Diego, even if it ended the same way most runs have ended at WTA and Grand Slam tour this year, with a defeat to Iga Swiatek, who’s by far the best player on tour right now. Still  a final was a very impressive showing for Vekic and she’ll be highly motivated. But she might be a bit tired (physically and mentally) and faces a much higher ranked opponent who beat her with relative ease recently at the US Open. Kudermetova is a sound favorite here.
Prediction: Kudermetova in 2

Paula Badosa vs Victoria Azarenka

Head-to-head: Badosa 1-1 Azarenka

Badosa might be the much higher ranked player currently, but Azarenka is a legend of the sport who can still bring back her old magic occasionally. She has a very good of causing what would only be considered an upset because of raking. Badosa has been on a terrible streak lately and this is very far from an ideal draw to snap out of it.
Prediction: Azarenka in 3
