WTA Abu Dhabi Day 2 Predictions Including Heather Watson vs Veronika Kudermetova

Veronika Kudermetova US OPEN

After the Australian Open, the WTA moves to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, with an excellent field headed by four Top 10 players. Those top seeds won’t be in action today, but there will be plenty of other exciting action, with some lower ranked players looking to start a deep run here. The matches should be very tight and exciting even with the top seeds not featuring yet. We also predict the rest of Tuesday’s matches in Dubai in a separate article.

WTA Abu Dhabi Day 3 Predictions

Anhelina Kalinina vs Lucia Bronzetti

Head-to-head: first meeting

Neither player has started the season well, with both losing their first match at the Australian Open and not really having any good runs yet. That makes this match all the more important for both players, as they desperately try to get some momentum going. The fact that they have never played before makes this matchup even more unpredictable, but in general Kalinina is the more solid and consistent player, so she should theoretically have a slight edge here.
Prediction: Kalinina in 3

Lesia Tsurenko vs Liudmila Samsonova

Head-to-head: Samsonova 1-0 Tsurenko

Samsonova had a terrible start to the season and is yet to win a match in 2024. Tsurenko, on the other hand, had a good run in Australia but she lost in the third round to the eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka. She definitely looks to be in better form and should be the more confident player of the two at the moment, giving her a bit of an edge here.
Prediction: Tsurenko in 3

Heather Watson vs Veronika Kudermetova

Head-to-head: Kudermetova 1-1 Watson

Both players lost in the first round at the Australian Open and need a big run here to gain some momentum back. Watson made it through the qualifying here but her level was far from impressive and she was very close to elimination. Kudermetova is generally the higher level player and should be able to prevail here.
Prediction: Kudermetova in 3
