WTA Strasbourg Day 4 brings out the seeds. There are seven singles matches scheduled and we will look at all of them across two articles. In this one, we will take a look at the top three seeds and offer our thoughts on which will progress and which may stumble.
WTA Strasbourg Day 4
Emma Navarro vs Beatriz Haddad Maia
Head to Head: 1-1
Emma Navarro has come into Strasbourg on the back of a very successful week in Paris. The American was runner up in the WTA 125 event on the same surface. Beatriz Haddad Maia defeated Navarro in Madrid at the end of April, at the same stage. The Brazilian will be confident of a repeat. However, Navarro will be feeling good after an excellent display last round. This will be a close match
Prediction: Navarro in 3
Marketa Vondrousova vs Magdalena Frech
Head to Head: 2-0
Marketa Vondrousova is the top seed here in Strasbourg and will be looking to go well here in preparation for the French Open. The Czech made the semi final in Stuttgart at the start of the clay swing. Since then, though, Vonrousova has not progressed beyond the second round. Magdalena Frech came through qualifying and impressed in the first round with a victory over Sloane Stephens. It’s unlikely however, that Frech will be able to overcome the top seed here.
Prediction: Vondrousova in 2
Danielle Collins vs Katerina Siniakova
Head to Head: 1-1
Danielle Collins made the semifinal at the Italian Open mid-May, which has been one of her best finishes this season on clay. The American did win the title in Charleston earlier this season, but has been indifferent since. With a third round defeat in Madrid, before the semifinal in Italy, being her finishes so far. Katerina Siniakova lost in the first round in Madrid, but stayed in Spain the following week. The Czech played the 125 event in Lleida and claimed the title. The Italian Open saw Siniakova lose in the second round, so she will be hoping for more Spain than Italy here in Strasbourg.
Prediction: Collins in 3
