WTA Jiangxi Day 2 Predictions Including Laura Siegemund vs Moyuka Uchijima

Laura Siegemund US Open

It promises to be a great day of action at the WTA Jiangxi Open. Former French Open quarterfinalist Laura Siegemund is one of those who is set to take to the court on Day 2. Nine matches are on the schedule, and we at LWOT predict all those contests here and in a separate article, including Shuai Zhang vs Rebecca Sramkova.

WTA Jiangxi Day 2 Predictions

Jana Fett vs Saisai Zhang

Head-to-head: Fett 1-0 Zheng

Fett started the Asian swing promisingly by losing narrowly in the Thailand Open quarterfinal to the eventual champion Rebecca Sramkova. The Croatian has mostly struggled since, but this is a good draw for her. Zheng is yet to win a singles match in 2024 since returning from a hiatus of over two years, and Fett’s level should be good enough to extend her opponent’s winless run.

Prediction: Fett in 2

Viktorija Golubic vs Xiaodi You

Head-to-head: Golubic 1-0 You

The experienced Golubic has only managed one victory in Asia so far in 2024. She starts as the favorite against You, ranked outside the Top 300. The Chinese player’s last match was a 1-6, 2-6 thrashing by Caroline Dolehide at the Guangzhou Open, who went on to finish as the runner-up to Olga Danilovic. Golubic is not in her prime anymore, but she has enough left in the tank to beat You.

Prediction: Golubic in 2

Martina Trevisan vs Wushuang Zheng

Head-to-head: First meeting

Trevisan has lost four consecutive matches, all in Asia. That included a shocking loss in Guangzhou last week to Ye-Xin Ma, ranked outside the Top 200. That will give World No. 209 Zheng hope that upsetting the out-of-form 2022 French Open semifinalist is possible. It is hard to believe someone with Trevisan’s achievements could lose back-to-back matches to players outside the Top 200, but stranger things have happened.

Prediction: Trevisan in 2

Laura Siegemund vs Moyuka Uchijima

Head-to-head: First meeting

Expect plenty of long rallies between these two gritty players. Neither woman enters this matchup in great form, with Siegemund’s level dropping since reaching the Thailand Open final last month. The 36-year-old’s season might be petering a little after her efforts throughout 2024. Uchijima is a slight favorite, but this could easily go either way.

Prediction: Uchijima in 3
