WTA Jiujiang Day 4 Predictions Including Martina Trevisan vs Anna Bondar

Anna Bondar Miami Open

Four more quarterfinal spots will be up for grabs on Thursday at the WTA Jiangxi Open in Jiujiang, China. Former Roland Garros semifinalist Martina Trevisan will be looking to win back-to-back matches for the first time in five tournaments. Who will advance?

WTA Jiangxi Day 4 Predictions

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro vs Viktorija Golubic

Head-to-head: first meeting

It’s a meeting between two players who are over 100 spots apart. On first look, you would assume it is the veteran Golubic who is the higher-ranked player. But that is not the case. The Swiss one-hander has not played a lot of tennis this year and missed three months of the season because of injury. She is coming off a straight-sets win in her opening match at the Jiangxi Open. Bouzas Maneiro is a player who loves to grind for a living, with almost half of her 50 wins this year coming on clay. It’s the Spaniard’s preferred surface. However, that doesn’t mean she can’t adapt to play outside it. In fact, Bouzas Maneiro enters this match with eight wins from her last 13 matches on hard courts. That kind of stat gives her a very good advantage to upset Golubic.
Prediction: Bouzas Maneiro in 3

Arantxa Rus vs Linda Fruhvirtova

Head-to-head: Rus 1-1 Fruhvirtova

Rus won the pair’s only meeting this season in Hobart. Fruhvirtova will be eyeing for revenge here just as the season reaches its climax. The young Czech has been a disappointment in 2024. Her ranking plummeted to outside the Top 200, and she finds herself with a lot of groundwork to do before next year’s Australian Open. The positive side is that Fruhvirtova can still salvage something out of what has been a learning experience. She played with regulation in her opening win over Von Deichmann. Anything similar to that performance might be sufficient to take down Rus.
Prediction: Fruhvirtova in 3

Rebecca Sramkova vs Sijia Wei

Head-to-head: Wei 1-0 Sramkova

Sramkova returned to winning ways at the Jiangxi Open by beating Shuai Zhang in straight sets. She took 20 days off after Beijing and returned home to Slovakia to rest. She was on a tear just before that, reaching two finals and the third round of the China Open as a qualifier. That run included her maiden WTA title in Hua Hin. Wei has shown a lot of promise in the few appearances at the Tour level, including a victory over Sramkova in Guangzhou this past week. It is highly unlikely the Chinese youngster will repeat that result now that Sramkova is fully energized.
Prediction: Sramkova in 2

Martina Trevisan vs Anna Bondar

Head-to-head: Bondar 1-0 Trevisan

Trevisan snapped her five-match losing streak on Tuesday, beating Wushuang Zheng for the loss of three games. Bondar, for her part, was winless in three matches until she arrived in Jiujiang, where she defeated Arianne Hartono in three sets. She saved two match points in the decider. Both players are clay-court specialists, but Bondar’s shot selection is more effective on this surface and will likely shine in this contest.
Prediction: Bondar in 3
